Iqbal Academy Pakistan hosted a seminar titled “Resolution of Global Conflicts in the Light of Iqbal’s Thought” to mark the International Day of International Conflicts at Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex. The session was chaired by Dr. Abid Sherwani, Director Research & Innovation, University of Management and Technology. Brig (R) Dr. Waheed uz Zaman Tariq, noted Iqbal scholar, delivered the keynote address. Dr. Abdul Rauf Rafiqui, Director, Iqbal Academy Pakistan, presented the vote of thanks and Mr. Zaid Hussain moderated the proceedings.
In his presidential remarks, Dr. Sherwani underscored the escalating severity of global disputes and noted that Allama Iqbal’s philosophy, particularly khudi (selfhood) and the ideal of unity offers principled guidance for peace and stability at the international level.
Delivering the keynote, Dr. Tariq linked Iqbal’s intellectual framework to contemporary crises, observing that Iqbal’s emphasis on truth and justice helps illuminate the roots and remedies of conflicts such as Palestine, Kashmir and Afghanistan.
Offering closing acknowledgments, Dr. Rafiqui reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to advancing Iqbal’s thought in support of global peace, adding that Iqbal’s poetry continues to inspire constructive engagement and reconciliation. He presented commemorative shields to the guests at the conclusion.
The seminar drew a strong turnout from students, faculty, members of the diplomatic community and the literary fraternity.
