Iqbal Academy Pakistan organized a special seminar regarding 70th anniversary of Pak-China diplomatic relations

Lahore (July 29, 2021) Iqbal Academy Pakistan organized a special seminar regarding 70th anniversary of Pak-China diplomatic relations here in Lahore on Thursday. The seminar titled “The Demands of a Changing World and Pak-China Relations- In the light of Iqbal’s Vision” was presided over by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, while Mr. Du Yue, Chief of Political Section, Chinese Consulate, Lahore was the Chief Guest. CGSS Vice President Brigadier (Retd) Mansoor Saeed delivered the keynote address. Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen delivered the vote of thanks. The event was hosted by Haroon Akram Gill.
Speaking at the seminar, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Pro Vice Chancellor, Punjab University said that every Pakistani believes that China has helped us in every difficult situation on unconditional basis. He said that the governments of the two countries were working to enhance cooperation at all levels. Dr. Saleem Mazhar further said that it is the good fortunate for Pakistan that there is a country in its neighborhood which has promoted peace without any discrimination and paved the way for technological advancement in Asia. He said that in the last thirty five years, China has only advanced technology without firing a single shot. The Vice Chancellor of Punjab University said that Punjab University, Iqbal Academy and Chinese Consulate would jointly carry out the translation and compilation projects.
The Chief Guest of the ceremony Mr. Du Yue said that he has served in Pakistan for a long time and Pakistan is like a home for him. He said that relations between Pakistan and China are excellent at the political level but there is a need to bring the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, closer through coordination. Iqbal Academy Pakistan is working to spread the message of Pakistan's national poet Allama Iqbal can play a great role in this regard. He further said that Iqbal Academy and Chinese Consulate can jointly organize such programs which can acquaint Pakistan and Chinese people with each other's culture and literature. Chinese Consulate Lahore is here for any kind of cooperation in this regard.
Brigadier (r) Mansoor Saeed said that Allama Iqbal was optimistic about the future of Asia, adding that the 70th century would be an Asian era and the nations of Asia would play an important role in the new world. He also mentioned the development of China in Asian countries in particular and praised China on proving Allama's words true with its tireless work and the 21st century is rightly the century of the shift of power from West to East and the world's economic and political focus is clearly on Asia. He said that diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China were established in 1951 and Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize China. However, the friendship between the people of the two regions is rooted in centuries-old ties and is growing stronger with each passing day. He further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan visited China in 2018 and 2019. Besides, Pakistan plays an important role in China's Belt and Road project. And CPEC marks a new era in Pakistan-China relations. China has given full support to Pakistan in the construction of Gwadar port. China is also playing the role of a true friend by helping Pakistan in energy projects. He said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is indeed higher than the mountains, deeper than the sea, stronger than steel and sweeter than honey. Director Iqbal Academy Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen thanked all the distinguished guests and congratulated the special guest Mr. Du Yue on the completion of 70 years of Pak-China diplomatic relations and 100 years of the Communist Party of China. Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen said that Iqbal Academy is working on translations of Allama Iqbal's poetry for the benefit of Chinese scholars and intellectuals who are interested in Urdu Literature. She agreed with Chinese Ambassador Mr. Du Yue that children's literature should be translated into each other's languages to bring the people of the two countries closer. She said that the exchange of culture and literature at the level of children will provide an opportunity to bring people of Pakistan and China closer.
