Two-day international conference:
"On the occasion of Women's Day" at the Department of Gender Studies, Punjab University

A two-day international conference on "Women's Day" was organized by the Department of Gender Studies, Punjab University on March 7-8, 2021. Addressing the second day session of the conference, Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen said that Allama Iqbal was an all-round thinker. He has influenced every walk of life with his exceptional work.. His work has so many dimensions including “Existence of women” and related topics. Allama Iqbal presented excellent points on this in his poetic and prose thoughts. She said that although Allama Iqbal also paid attention to it in Urdu poetry, but the detailed expression on the subject of duties and women's rights is found in his Persian poetry or In his prose writings. Allama Iqbal was convinced to give women freedom and equal rights while living within the religion of Islam. He described Hazrat Fatima Al-Zahra as a role model for Muslim women.
The session was chaired by Dr. Shahzeb, Teacher of English Department and papers were presented by teachers and scholars. Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen congratulated the Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar and the Head of the Department of Gender Studies, Prof. Dr. Ra’na Malik on convening the conference.
